Under the Electricity Ordinance (Cap. 406), any person or company carrying on business as an electrical contractor undertaking electrical wiring work on fixed low or high voltage electrical installations must register with the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services. The contractor must employ at least one registered electrical worker of the appropriate grade for the work undertaken. Registration is renewable and applications can be made in person, by mail or online.
